Ambassador, affiliate, or paid campaign?
Brands use "ambassador" for very different things. Some mean an affiliate link that pays when people buy. Some mean free product for a set number of posts each month. Some mean a discount, like Lululemon's Sweat Collective for instructors. A paid campaign is different again: the brand pays for the content itself, on agreed terms, whether or not a single sale follows.
Our 2026 report on 3,286 brand pitches to creators found the same pattern in creators' inboxes: about half offered only product or pay on sales, and 15% named a cash payment.
Before you join any program
- Read what it pays: product, a share of sales, or cash
- Check exclusivity: Celsius bars posts for competing energy and pre-workout drinks
- Count the work: a monthly Reel for one outfit is a real cost
- Check the sender: SKIMS, SET and Sephora all warn about fake outreach
- Never pay or share bank details to join an ambassador program
How creators get paid campaigns with brands like these
The creators who get paid are usually picked, not accepted from a form. Brands look for steady posting, a community that comments and buys, and content that looks good in an ad. A creator marketing company brings those creators to brands that pay.
OVO Talent runs influencer campaigns for consumer brands, with lifestyle, beauty, fashion and fitness as core niches. Our creators have run campaigns with Nike, SKIMS, Gymshark, Celsius, GNC and Cal AI. Your OVO Talent team pitches you to paying brands and handles the brief, contract and payment. Apply with your public Instagram at ovotalent.com/for-creators.
Frequently asked questions
Which brand ambassador programs actually pay?
Few pay cash for posts. Of 12 big brands we checked, Sephora Squad is the clearest paid application. Revolve, Lululemon and SKIMS pay on sales. Fabletics and Celsius pay in product. Gymshark and Alo pick creators themselves.
How do I get sponsored by a big brand?
Post consistently in one niche, build a community that comments and buys, and tag the brand when you use it. Or apply to OVO Talent at ovotalent.com/for-creators.
Are ambassador programs worth it for creators?
Sometimes. Free product you would buy anyway, or links your audience uses, can pay off. Watch for exclusivity rules and monthly post quotas that cost more than the product is worth.
How do I know an ambassador offer is real?
Check the sender's domain against the brand's site, and never pay or share bank details to join. SKIMS, for example, says real outreach only comes from an @skims.com email or a verified account.
Who helps creators get paid brand deals instead of ambassador programs?
OVO Talent, a creator marketing company that pitches lifestyle, beauty, fashion and fitness creators to brands for paid campaigns and handles the brief, contract and payment. Apply at ovotalent.com/for-creators.
