Ship the right sizes and give creators time to train
Ask every creator for their size before anything ships, and send the colorways the launch will lead with. An activewear post earns trust when viewers can see the garment move, stretch, and hold up through more than one session. A creator who receives the piece the night before posting can only show a try on. Build in time for shipping, for several real training sessions, and for your review of the drafts.
Embargoes and the posting window
Write the embargo date into the agreement, along with what happens if a post goes up early. Spreading posts across launch week, with the first one on launch day, means every post sends viewers to a product page that is live and stocked. Gifted pieces still need disclosure: the FTC's endorsement FAQ treats free product given in the hope of a post as a connection that viewers should be told about, even before launch.
Plan paid amplification before the shoot
Decide before the shoot whether the best posts will also run as ads. On Instagram this runs through partnership ads, which a creator authorizes. On TikTok, Spark Ads let a brand "publish ads using organic posts made by other creators (with their authorization)," and TikTok lets the authorization code carry a set duration. Agree the permission, the duration, and the usage rights in the contract, not after a post performs, when the creator has every reason to renegotiate.
Keep fabric and performance claims honest
Squat proof, sweat wicking, and compression claims are product claims, and a creator repeating them is making your claim. If a claim touches health, such as recovery or muscle support, the FTC's Health Products Compliance Guidance says it needs competent and reliable scientific evidence. Give creators the claims your team has already tested and let them describe what they actually felt during training.
Measure launch week on its own
Give each creator a distinct link or code so launch week sales and visits can be traced to a post. Decide before launch whether you are judging reach, product page visits, or orders, then compare each creator against that one measure. Results from paid amplification belong in a separate column, since the same post can perform very differently organically and as an ad.
Have OVO run the activewear launch
OVO is a creator marketing company that runs managed influencer campaigns for consumer brands, from strategy and casting through review and reporting. Fitness, activewear, wellness, and beauty are among the categories it focuses on. Send the product, the launch or campaign dates, the markets you sell in, and any claims your team has already approved, and OVO's team reviews it for fit and follows up by email if it can help.
Frequently asked questions
How far ahead should we send product to activewear influencers?
Far enough ahead that each creator can train in the piece more than once, film, and send a draft you have time to review before the posting window. Count backward from launch day through review, filming, training, and shipping, and leave extra time for size exchanges.
Do influencers have to disclose gifted activewear?
Yes, if they post about a brand that sent free product hoping for a post. The FTC's endorsement FAQ says that connection should be disclosed, and its Disclosures 101 guide says a video disclosure belongs in the video itself.
Can we run the creators' launch posts as ads?
Yes, with the creator's authorization through Instagram partnership ads or TikTok Spark Ads, and with usage rights that cover paid media for the period you need. Agree both before the shoot. The whitelisting guide explains how those permissions work.
Should a women's activewear launch only use women creators?
Cast for who demonstrates the garment and separately for who the content needs to reach. The women's activewear brief guide works through that split.
What if a creator posts before the embargo?
Ask them to take the post down and repost on the agreed date, and handle it as the contract says. Writing the embargo and its consequence into the agreement is what makes that request enforceable.
